An invaluable lesson from one of the craftiest veterans i know: How to let the group know that you don’t want to climb a tall but easy climb, without marking yourself as a wuss.
Step 1: Give a compliment. Say something like “you are better man than I.”
Step 2: Assert your authority. No one is the boss of you. With an even tone, say “I am not rock climbing this.”
Step 3: Use the words “death” and “doom” and “quadriplegic” in the same sentence.
Step 4: Go pee even if you don’t have to.
